ABOUT THE VOICES INCUBATOR
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) launched Grand Challenges to bring the world's brightest minds together to solve our world's most pressing challenges. By investing in small-grants & holistic support, the Challenges foster innovation and experimentation for social impact. The Voices for Economic Opportunity Grand Challenge was launched to address the persistent toxic narratives about poverty in the U.S. In addition to providing $100,000 to each Grand Challenge Participant, BMGF is partnering with Purpose to design and support the Voices for Economic Opportunity Incubator.
The Voices Incubator provides resources for participants around community & collaboration, learning & training, and testing & experimentation to support the creation of breakthrough creative, scalable and strategic interventions that begin to shift harmful narratives on poverty and economic mobility in America.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Purpose is seeking a Senior Director of Impact Measurement and Learning to join our diverse team.
One of the key offerings of the Incubator is to support participants to test and iterate their narrative change projects to change people's hearts and minds about poverty in America. The Senior Director of Impact Measurement and Learning will be a key architect of the Incubator's testing framework that will support innovative narrative change projects for 28 participants, ranging from national nonprofits to legal funds to local organizers. The Senior Director of Impact Measurement and Learning is responsible for developing the testing, measurement and evaluation program for the Incubator, and would manage our research and distribution partnerships, and get to work alongside a cross-disciplinary team of campaigners, strategists, and creatives to support a range of participant projects. The Incubator will provide a range of testing resources, and the Senior Director, along with the Director and other Voices leadership, will develop insights and analysis that can be shared and used by participants to create scalable narrative change projects.
We're looking for someone who has designed and developed experiments that can be scaled to reach large audiences and change people's hearts and minds. The ideal candidate is someone with a background in politics, public mobilization, or brand communications who is skilled at working with diverse collaborators and is adept at translating data and communicating actionable insights to a wide range of audiences.
The Senior Director of Impact, Measurement and Learning will work alongside a team of program managers, campaigners, strategists and creatives, and will have the opportunity to help build an Impact, Measurement and Learning practice at Purpose. The Voices Incubator will serve as a model for codifying Purpose's approach to measuring narrative change, and the Senior Director of Senior Director of Impact Measurement and Learning will be charged with bringing those lessons to help build new, innovative approaches to measuring impact across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Voices Incubator:
- Play an integral role on the Voices Incubator team to develop, refine, and manage our testing and evaluation framework
- Support the Voices team to help create frameworks and templates to best support participants in their testing journey
- Work closely with vendors on crafting primary research deliverables, and identifying other opportunities to provide low-cost, high quality feedback to inform participant projects
- Manage the synthesis of various research and testing streams into key insights and findings for various audiences (participants, research partners, and funders)
- Support the Voices team to measure and evaluate participant projects and progress to goals
- Work closely with funders, and other key stakeholders in developing testing, measurement, and evaluation approaches
Purpose-wide:
- Lead on developing the Impact, Measurement and Learning practice at Purpose to support Labs and other relevant project work
- Manage direct reports and help build a global Impact, Measurement and Learning team at Purpose
- Help cultivate a culture of Impact, Measurement and Learning across Purpose
- Lead on developing and testing new models of experimentation, impact measurement, and evaluation
- Support existing Labs and Agency projects on strengthening their Impact Measurement and Learning programs
- Develop a set of Purpose IP on Impact, Measurement and Learning that can inform project work, business development, and thought leadership

Skills & Experience:

- Likely around 10-15 years experience in data and analytics; we are particularly seeking people with experience in the political advocacy, organizing, digital activism, public policy, or creative campaigns sectors
- Extremely capable project manager with ability to handle competing deliverables and serving multiple stakeholders (partners, clients, campaigns)
- Experience building and managing teams
- Experience measuring and evaluating impact for programs campaigns, or organizations through a range of qualitative and quantitative research, digital testing, and other forms of experimentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues for a wide audience
- Demonstrated Track record of learning new tools, technologies, and frameworks
- Passion, a sharp mind, high integrity, a hands-on attitude, and an entrepreneurial, problem-solving spirit
- Excited to work with highly diverse teams
