For Our Future Nevada seeks a Relational Voter Program Coordinator for an exciting virtual organizing program focused on the 2021 legislative session in Nevada. The Coordinator will be responsible for engaging area residents and activists to advocate on local and national causes, and campaigns that matter to them, and catalyze others to do the same.
We are looking for a quick learner, clear communicator, an organizer, and a team player who will meet new challenges with ambition and creativity to join our team. Successful candidates will bring all or most of the following skills and attributes to this position: a commitment to teamwork; have an exceptional ability to stay organized, to manage their time effectively, and to juggle several priorities that may change quickly; and finally possess a keen attention to detail.
Work will, at times, be scheduled in the evenings and/or weekends. This position requires creativity and flexibility due to the fast-paced nature and mission of our organization.
This position is based in Nevada. The Relational Voter Program Coordinator will report to the Digital Organizing Manager. This is a full-time position through at least June 15, 2021.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
● Work with state leadership to plan and help implement new outreach strategies and implement best practices for digital organizing and volunteer recruitment.
● Recruit volunteers to become Relational Voter Program leaders and empower them to take action.
● Coach and train volunteers on best practices for organizing, the Relational Voter Program, and skill set development.
● Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly goals are met and exceeded.
● Maintain a volunteer's Slack channel and have regular volunteer meetings, as needed.
● Ensure timely and accurate data entry and reporting.
● Support on-the-ground digital work, including virtual community events and capturing people's stories.
● Assist with plan implementation on other digital and social media platforms, as needed.
● Attend weekly scheduled calls and meetings as assigned.
● Adhere to all health and safety protocols and procedures.
● Represent the organization at virtual, or when appropriate in-person community events and meetings when assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
● A passion for progressive causes and advocating and communicating authentic stories about Nevadans
● At least 1-2 cycles of competitive campaign experience, preferred but not required;
● Experience with digital organizing and planning in support of field, electoral, and/or issue campaigns
● Strong knowledge of Empower, preferred; experience with any relational organizing program required
● Strong knowledge of Votebuilder/VAN a plus
● Basic computer literacy and database skills including strong knowledge of spreadsheets and Google Suite platforms, required
● Some familiarity leadership development, and team building & volunteer recruitment
● Proficiency in managing, training, and coaching staff and volunteers
● Management experience preferred
● Possess a keen attention to detail
● Creativity and a strong desire to learn and implement ever-evolving digital tactics
● Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) preferred, but not required
● Demonstrated experience working on projects in a fast-paced environment, juggling several priorities that may change quickly, and meeting tight deadlines
● Ability to work both independently and as a team member in a busy organization with personal enthusiasm, optimism, and a sense of humor
● Winning mentality
● Access to a reliable laptop is ideal; and
● Must have reliable access to transportation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Supervise volunteer and paid staff for the relational organizing programs
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
● Because of COVID-19, state and local government stay at home orders, phased reopening orders, and other factors limit For Our Future's in-person activities. When these limits apply, your work environment will likely be your domicile (teleworking) or a socially distanced office. When it is possible to safely and appropriately in-person activities, it will be a high priority for this role to stage, launch, and manage issue advocacy programs. Employees may occasionally be required to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold. This position is expected to interact regularly with community partners face-to-face or in a group setting and may also be expected to interact face-to-face with volunteers or voters.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
● Employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
