About the Video and Media Producer

The Working Families Party is looking for a creative, dynamic, resourceful video and media producer to engage our growing base of supporters across campaigns and channels. The Video and Media Producer will have a unique opportunity to put their creativity and skills to use creating short videos, motion graphics, and other content to reach new audiences, and will be a key member of the team responsible for articulating WFP's voice and visual brand.

This position will be a part of the Working Families Party's National Digital Communications Team and will report to the National Digital Director, while working closely with the Senior Creative Strategist as well as other leaders and staff across departments. This position is remote. Applicants do not need to live in New York.

Expectations and Responsibilities

  • Produces videos that will bring thousands into the movement, advance WFP's core values and strategy, and create awareness to attract and engage new supporters from different demographic groups.
  • Conceives concepts for, and executes the production of rapid response, social-first, motion graphic, documentary, and/or editorial style videos, in partnership with other members of the Digital Communications team.
  • Manages and coordinates the logistics of video production projects, including timelining, scheduling, managing team members, contractors, and talent, and renting and purchasing equipment.
  • Plays a supportive and point of contact role to larger production projects with outside vendors.
  • Collaborates on the drafting and editing of video scripts, working with staff and leaders across the organization.
  • Tracks social media trends and emerging video formats to better understand what's resonating with audiences at the moment.
  • Helps prep talent and staff leading into productions, including drafting creative briefs, call sheets, final scripts and research on guests when needed.
  • Supports, gives creative direction, and establishes a connection with WFP volunteers to help them record video/content on the ground and create an organizational video asset library.
  • Works with other members of the Digital Communications Team to envision new forms and push creative boundaries.
  • Other tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated background in video production — please include examples of your work
  • Expertise in video editing software including Adobe Premiere
  • Strong attention to detail and organization while managing tight deadlines and multiple projects
  • Commitment to a progressive vision of racial, social and economic justice and a deep understanding of how all of these issues intersect.

Preferred (but not required) Skills

  • Experience producing livestreams
  • Experience with YouTube, Twitch, and other social media platforms.
  • Fluency in Spanish

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $55,000 to $70,000 and will be adjusted based on an internal equitable scale that takes into consideration years of experience, geographic location, and final job description. We also offer a competitive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance and matching contributions into a 401(k) retirement plan, plus paid holidays, sick time, and vacation. Opportunities for advancement, travel, and additional training are available.
