About the Organizing and Party Building Manager
The NY Working Families Party is searching for an Organizing and Party Building Manager who will help build our grassroots base and organizing operation in New York, particularly in the Bronx and Westchester counties, in support of our electoral and base building campaigns. The Organizing and Party Building Manager will help drive a program to recruit and support members and volunteer leaders to advance the values of working people. They will initiate electoral and base building tactics including membership meetings, trainings, endorsement interviews, mass meetings/convenings, canvasses/door knocks, text parties, house parties, etc. that gather supporters and members, help elect WFP candidates, get votes on the WFP ballot line, and build the party.
The Organizing & Party Building Manager will build and/or support a team of local leaders and foster the development of our organizing bodies (chapters, clubs, and squads), and help launch a WFP culture grounded in creating radically welcoming and engaging spaces.
The Organizing and Party Building Manager will also work with and recruit affiliate organizations to build the Party's Regional Advisory Councils; manage relationships with current allies; and identify new organizations to form local and regional electoral and issue-focused coalitions.
This position is supervised by the Director of Party Building and includes local and national professional development opportunities in management, organizing, communications, electoral campaigns, issue campaigns and fundraising.

Primary Responsibilities
- Build relationships with and support leadership development and political education of individual WFP activists, members, and leaders in several different regions around the state
- Identify and recruit new members and leaders into the party
- Work with local leadership to identify new potential members and establish systems that are member-led to build new chapters and clubs in multiple regions around the state
- Strategize on party building campaigns and opportunities with Director of Party Building
- Engage leaders in strategic, inclusive, and democratic endorsement processes to ensure our endorsements reflect both the will of rank and file party membership and the vision of the Party
- Identify exciting local candidates that create the potential to build the party around
- Work daily with Party Building team to develop and implement the membership structures that will facilitate recruitment, retention, and development; chapter and regional advisory council building; and state committee enrollment -- all at a scale appropriate for a statewide political party
- Support local WFP chapters, clubs, affiliates and regional body to engage in on our Vote WFP campaign and electoral campaigns
- Interface with candidates and political campaigns about member engagement
- Work with partners to staff joint volunteer activities/actions
- Participate in fundraising, including staffing some events, like house parties and fundraising phonebanks
- Support State Committee, officers and other staff teams with research, logistics, and the creation of various materials
- Manage contact lists and maintain up to date records in our database
- Work closely with any interns, fellows and/or paid or volunteer canvass
Requirements
- Two to three years of previous organizing or relevant experience working in communities of color
- A passion and commitment to social, economic, and racial justice
- Demonstrated ability to engage activists around a cause
- Ability to communicate compellingly about WFP's work and inspire others to action
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Drive and tenacity to advance our mission and values
- Ability to work independently
- Attention to detail
- Driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness for regular in-state travel
- Fluency in Spanish a plus
- Experience organizing in the Bronx and/or Westchester preferred
Location
The position is full time and remotely based anywhere in the United States during the current health crisis. When safe to travel, our preference is for you to be based in New York or Los Angeles.
Compensation
Salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 depending on experience. A competitive benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance and matching contributions into a 401(k) retirement plan, plus paid holidays, vacation, and sick time.
