Democracy for America - Communications Assistant
Democracy for America, a national progressive organization founded by Gov. Howard Dean with more than one million members nationwide, is looking for a Communications Assistant to help its growing Communications team attract media attention across the country.
This is an entry-level position that reports directly to DFA's Communications Director and will play a critical role in helping the organization meet, monitor, and track its communications goals. Applicants will have the opportunity to learn or hone skills essential to working with the media on political campaigns, progressive nonprofits and government.
The ideal candidate will be well-organized, incredibly detail-oriented, and able to perform at a high level when the pressure is on, while also taking advantage of occasional "down time" to realize longer-term goals.
Democracy for America is an equal opportunity employer that strongly values and looks to continue developing the diversity of our team. Women, persons of color, LGBT individuals, veterans, and members of other underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
- A burning passion for progressive political change
- Strong research, writing and verbal communication skills

- The ability to multi-task and work under pressure in time-sensitive situations
- An ongoing interest in news and the media and/or developing a career in political communications or press relations
- A "can do," proactive work ethic
- Comfortable with telecommuting -- while DFA has an office in Burlington, VT, most staff telecommute from around the U.S. and rely heavily on video conferencing, Gchat and email to communicate with each other
