[jobsthatareLEFT] We're Hiring! Digital Advertising Strategist in Portland, Oregon.

Strategist, Digital Advertising

Start Date: Opening effective immediately

Schedule: Full-time, with occasional evenings and weekends as clients require

Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits.

Location: Portland, Oregon

Who we are:

Mandate Media is a Democratic political consulting firm specializing in internet strategy and services. Based in Portland, we help Democratic candidates and progressive advocacy groups integrate their strategy with technology. That means websites, social media, email broadcasting, data management, digital advertising, and a whole lot more - all under one roof. We're a hands-on firm, working with our clients to build a big digital presence, find supporters, and raise money. Our clients are changing the world, and we help them win.

What's the job?

This is a full-time Portland-based job in a small, fast-growing, well-respected firm. Every day will be different, and you'll be using your skills to help change the world. We're a small shop, and you'll report directly to our president.

As our Strategist for Digital Advertising, you will be a key member of our client-services team. You will apply your creativity and strategic thinking to develop advertising concepts; produce ad copy and creative; manage ad traffic, bidding, and optimization; report results and research to clients; and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Our advertising programs run year-round. For much of that time, our clients' ads are designed to acquire new supporters, subscribers, and donors. At election time, we shift our ads to persuasive communications designed to move voters. You'll be responsible for both programs.

Tasks:

  • Create digital ads, including copy, creative, and tracking
  • Provide regular reporting to clients on advertising spend and performance
  • Track flow of client ad funds and ensure that we don't overspend or underspend
  • Work with our web development team to optimize landing pages
  • Work with our strategists to develop high-value acquisition campaigns
  • Maintain internal reports to track long-term account performance
  • Analyze data and optimize for improved ad performance
  • Identify and manage opportunities for sponsored email advertising
  • Quality assurance testing on both advertising units and landing pages
  • Explore new advertising vendors and ad technology options

Skills required:

Ideal candidates will be college graduates with 2-5 years of online advertising experience. Strong quantitative and communications skills are a must. We are a political consulting firm, but we're more interested in advertising experience than political experience (though a passion for changing the world makes the long hours bearable during election season!)

  • Experience with Google AdWords (editor), Facebook Ads Manager (power editor), sponsored emails, and other ad venues
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel to analyze data and track performance
  • Entrepreneurial "test & learn" mindset with track record of innovation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to execute projects independently and in close collaboration
  • Basic experience with Photoshop or another image editing program

While not required, we will look favorably on candidates who have experience with any of the following:

  • Ability to develop simple Flash ads
  • Experience with landing page testing and optimization
  • Familiarity with remarketing and conversion pixel placement, cookie technology
  • Experience integrating Google Analytics with ad technologies
  • Working knowledge of HTML

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is smart, fast, flexible, creative, and happy. This is a small team, but we're growing fast. We're looking for self-starters who want to expand their skills, take on tough challenges, and make this job their own. Tasks will come fast and furious, so adaptability and time-management skills are critical.

Compensation:

Commensurate with experience. Generous health insurance benefits, including dental, vision, and alternative care. Generous paid-time-off package and 401K plan.

How to apply:

Please send a cover letter, resume, and specific examples of online ads created. All materials should be sent to Suvi Chisholm, Director of Operations, jobs@mandatemedia.com.

Process:

This position is open until filled, but we are moving quickly. We will review applications as they arrive – for maximum consideration, submit your materials immediately. (Original closing date was June 30, but we've extended our search.)

Once we receive your materials, we'll contact you about the next steps in the process. If you have any questions, email Suvi Chisholm at jobs@mandatemedia.com. No calls, please.

Mandate Media is an equal opportunity employer.
