Learning for Action (LFA) is a San Francisco-based consulting firm that provides the social sector (nonprofit, philanthropic, and public organizations) with evaluation, research, strategy, and capacity-building services. Project Manager Position: Associate Consultant or Consultant
We are currently conducting a search for a talented, organized, and experienced project manager at the Associate Consultant or Consultant level to participate in a diverse array of team-based consulting projects. Associate Consultants and Consultants serve as the project manager on the majority of the projects in their portfolio, but may also be staffed on projects to provide additional team support as well.

The ideal candidate will contribute to the diversity of LFA, thrive on enhancing the effectiveness of social justice organizations, and support the advancement of our rising consulting firm.
Position responsibilities:
The Project Manager will support project teams by leading: client communication and coordination; team management and timelines; planning and facilitation of internal project team and external client meetings; and monthly budget tracking. Project-related tasks include: preparing survey, interview, focus group, and other data collection instruments; conducting interviews, and focus groups; conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis; developing evaluation and analysis plans; creating deliverables, including written reports; and presenting data in a clear, audience-appropriate way.
Required minimum qualifications:
§ Master's degree in a social science or relevant field or equivalent applied experience
§ Five years of experience in the workforce
§ Three years of research, evaluation, or strategic planning experience in a professional or academic setting
§ Two years of experience working in the nonprofit, philanthropic, and/or public sectors
§ Two years of experience managing project teams including: creating timelines to manage short- and long-term deliverables, delegating tasks, coordinating team communication, setting agendas for team meetings, and ensuring timely completion of project work, supporting matrix teams
§ Experience designing research, evaluation, and/or strategic planning inquiry tools (e.g., interview protocols, survey instruments)
§ Experience with qualitative data, including conducting key informant interviews and analyzing qualitative data
§ Experience with quantitative data, including managing and analyzing quantitative data
§ Experience tracking and managing project budgets
§ Demonstrated strong organizational skills
§ Familiarity and comfort with facilitating meetings and presenting findings, including adjusting style and approach to match the needs of meeting participants and audience
§ High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
§ Deep experience in statistical analysis and SPSS software (or other statistical software package such as STATA or SAS) or with organizational assessment (e.g. SWOT analysis)
§ Strong writing skills, particularly using quantitative or qualitative data to tell a coherent story
§ High level of accuracy and attention to detail
§ Ability to thrive on managing multiple projects and tasks
§ Be a U.S. Citizen, non-citizen national, or foreign national possessing a visa permitting permanent residence in the U.S. (Alien Registration or "Green Card"). Student visas and temporary work visas do not qualify.
Preferred qualifications:
§ Consulting experience in the social sector
§ Experience using data to support clients' ability to make sense of the information and then inform effective decision-making (e.g., inform programmatic or strategic adjustments)
§ Experience working with at-risk, low-income, under-served, and/or otherwise disadvantaged communities
§ Fluency in speaking, writing, and reading Spanish, including ability to translate
§ Knowledge of and/or experience with organizational development and organizational behavior
§ Familiarity and comfort with facilitating meetings, including adjusting style and approach to match the needs of meeting participants
§ Experience in one of the following issue areas: Education, Community Economic Development, or Health and Human Services
§ Experience making presentations to boards of directors and/or senior level executives
§ A valid California driver's license
This position is full time, exempt, with an annual starting salary of $75,000 - $90,000, depending on experience and position (i.e., Associate Consultant or Consultant). LFA offers a generous benefits package for a small business, including a 401k plan, profit sharing, and bonus structure on top of the opportunity to join an outstanding team working towards social justice.
