The California Clean Money Action Fund (CCMAF), a non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)(4) organization, seeks experienced professionals to serve as field organizers starting ASAP. These are full-time contract positions building grassroots support in California for the Voters' Right to Know initiative (http://www.YesFairElections.org) and for political advertising disclosure legislation that we are sponsoring. The planned contract period is for two to ten months depending on the success of the petition drive.
Locations: Bay Area and Fresno or surrounding areas in California. Applicants must be able to work from home as well as from offices in varying locations.
WE NEED ORGANIZERS WHO:
• Are aggressive, energetic, innovative and motivated by the prospect of a grassroots campaign.
• Possess a strong work ethic.
• Have good time management skills, are detail oriented, and can work long and irregular hours independently while providing regular tracking of activities and results.
• Are outgoing and willing to share their personal story with others in the community.
• Can meet deadlines and goals in a fast paced environment.
• Have the ability to work in a team atmosphere with a positive attitude and a good sense of humor.
• Have a car and can travel often.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Work closely with the Executive Director and committees to set organizing priorities to maximize signature-gathering and other support in region.
• Organize new action groups of CCMAF members and constituents in key communities.
• Recruit and support volunteers and volunteer leaders to existing and new action groups
• Facilitate trainings
• Build relationships with regional coalition leadership for petition help and Nov election effort
• Represent CCMAF at meetings, tabling events, rallies, public speaking engagements and/or other events when requested by the Executive Director.
• Organize interns and other volunteers.
• Use Smartvan and other tools for data entry and to provide scripts and other support for volunteers
• Complete other duties as directed by the Executive Director.
IDEAL APPLICANTS WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• 2+ cycles of experience with field or community organizing including volunteer and/or intern recruitment, training and supervision, voter targeting identification, and Get-Out-The-Vote drives
• Knowledge of California politics a major plus
• Working knowledge of the VAN, Google Docs, and Microsoft Office programs
• Strong oral and written communication skills and personal organizational skills
• Ability to work long days and irregular hours and maintain a positive, energetic attitude
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
