The Data Services Account Executive (DSAE) conducts analyses of large datasets to provide strategic recommendations to Catalist clients to optimize their work and plays a
key role in account support and solutions engineering for a set of our clients. Additionally, the DSAE supports Client Services by providing reports, lists, and appends
that the Catalist Q and M Tools cannot readily provide.
The Data Services Account Executive is responsible for overall project management for
certain clients and reports to the Director of Client Services providing account activity
and participating in problem solving. Our work is on the cutting edge of data-driven
politics, and your findings will help Democratic candidates and progressive
organizations conduct successful advocacy and electoral campaigns.
This position reports to the Director of Client Services and works closely with the
Product Management, Analytics and Tech teams.
Principle Responsibilities & Duties
Acts as an advanced user of all internal and external Catalist tools (JIRA, sFTP, Q Tool, M Tool), data and products (voter files, Enhanced Analytics, Catalist models, synthetics and specialty data) for the purpose of assessing and assisting with Client needs.
Receives, reviews, updates, and responds to all Data Services requests.
Gains an understanding of client needs, political implications and scope by interacting with Client Services, Product Management, and Analytics departments as needed. Develops deliverables and recommendations that leverage Catalist and client specific data.
Communicates regularly with Account Executives to ensure they are advised of project timelines and status, so they can update the clients together as appropriate.
Oversees all projects assigned from start to finish. Successfully delivers ad hoc reports, campaign lists, and presentation materials as needed in response to assigned Client Services requests on time, accurately, and in a client-friendly format with actionable insights where applicable.
Escalates issues and concerns to the Director of Client Services and Director of Product Management as needed.
Develops documentation to facilitate future replication of deliverables.
Works closely with Product Management to identify common requests that lend themselves to becoming permanent product enhancements.
Present results, both verbally and in writing, to technical and non-technical audiences.
Attends Client Services staff meetings to report on and discuss open projects.
Required Skills and Experience
Strong interest in data management and technical applications.
Ability to be creative, personable, and articulate ideas clearly.
The skills to turn complex data problems into actionable, client-friendly insights and recommendations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to learn new skills quickly.
Ability to handle multiple projects at once.
Highly-proficient in Excel: experience with large datasets, formulas, and pivot tables.
Experience in the following is preferred: SQL, Terminal, R, Tableau, Access.
Experience with political campaigns or progressive organizations is preferred.
