Campaigns Manager
The American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC), a Washington, D.C.-based national policy and advocacy organization, is seeking a highly motivated, articulate and politically astute person to help manage our external issues and legislative campaigns. ASBC and its network of business organizations represent over 200,000 businesses across the US, and make the business case to legislators and the media for adopting policies and programs that build a sustainable economy. www.asbcouncil.org
This full-time position involves:
Educating and engaging ASBC business organizations and individual business members to support campaign positions, engage in advocacy efforts and participate in media opportunities.
Attending and representing ASBC's policy positions at meetings on Capitol Hill, federal agencies, and with partner coalitions.
Preparing issue briefs and policy analyses on assigned issues.
Developing online campaign materials and action alerts.
Assisting with event management/planning.
Managing ASBC's intern program.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required, 3 years experience in issue or political campaigns and/or a policy-related field.
Familiar with issue campaign-style tactics, including organizing, making the hard 'ask,' and possessing the creative drive to mobilize members.
Collaborative nature, team player, self-motivated, values-based and able to manage multiple projects.
Able to size up the political dynamics of an issue; understand the concerns of different constituencies and how to motivate their members to engage in the policy process.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to craft pithy 'action alerts,' write memos, as well as longer, well-researched background documents.
Adept at establishing and managing strategic partnerships and coalitions.
Experience planning and managing events preferred.
Background in politics, Capitol Hill, campaign issues management, or communications as well as some familiarity with business.
Able to travel periodically.
Familiar with Salesforce and online campaign tools a plus.
