Overall Description:
The Missouri Democratic Coordinated Campaign is hiring distributed organizers for the 2018 election cycle.
As a Distributed Organizer, you will be responsible for starting and maintaining quality, long-term conversations with Missouri voters, while also working to build remote volunteer teams to supplement our grassroots voter contact program. The Distributed Organizing team works closely with the Field Organizing team and will resemble a standard campaign organizer job in many aspects, including goals, leading phonebanks, hosting meetings, training volunteers, and cultivating volunteer leadership. However, this job will also incorporate many new and exciting aspects of organizing. Distributed Organizers will face the additional challenge of distance - managing remote teams means less in-person interaction with volunteers and team leaders, and Distributed Organizers will rely more heavily on digital tools like texting as primary modes of communication. This position reports to the Distributed Organizing Director.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Recruiting, building and maintaining relationships with individual volunteers and volunteer groups through remote communications
Training volunteers remotely on methods of direct voter contact and other responsibilities
Continuing conversations with voters who have been previously contacted during the campaign, primarily through a robust texting follow-up program.
Ensuring that daily, weekly, and monthly goals are met and exceeded
Reporting specific metrics regularly and on-time, as well as ensuring the integrity of all data reported
Performing other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Diligent Work Ethic: This job will require long hours as well as patience and persistence when speaking with voters and volunteers
Interpersonal Skills: An ability to personalize and connect with volunteers is paramount to the success of volunteer recruitment and maintenance
Writing and Digital Communication Skills: This job requires a lot of communication with both volunteers and voters via texting, so those with excellent writing skills are needed, and those with digital communication experience is a plus
Problem-Solver: Creative thinking and a positive, enthusiastic attitude when addressing problems is a must for this job
Time-Management and Organizational Skills: Addressing problems and surpassing goals will require meticulous planning and discipline
Dedication to Democratic Values: All applicants must share the values of the Democratic Party, and be committed to electing Democrats up and down the ticket in Missouri
Ability to relocate in-state for the duration of the campaign
Must possess a valid driver's license, laptop and smartphone
Desired Attributes:
Prior field or other campaign experience preferred
Prior non-profit or activist experience preferred
Knowledge of google suite and VAN preferred
