About the DCCC:
The DCCC is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, research support and management consulting. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. Position Summary:
The Director for Member Engagement is responsible for advising and executing the Chairwoman's goals for engaging the Members of the House Democratic Caucus about the important work of the DCCC. The Director for Member Engagement will work directly with the Deputy Executive Director to implement a program designed to engage Members fully in the work of the organization, oversee the Member Engagement department, and support the Committee's outreach to the Caucus.
Responsibilities Include:
• Serves as liaison to Democratic Members of Congress, and Members' campaign staff, on behalf of the Committee;
• Brainstorm and execute outreach strategies to Members of Congress and their principal staff;
• Communicates regularly to Members of Congress about DCCC activities/programs;
• Creates and manages Member outreach programs;
• Works with Members and staff on re-election goals, priorities, and planning;
• Responding to Member and Chiefs of Staff inquiries;
• Assisting Deputy Executive Director with staff administration;
• Other duties as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong communication skills both internal facing between department leaders and externally.
• Possess problem solving and time management skills;
• Staff management and team leadership preferred;
• Broad understanding of the diverse House Democratic Caucus, including all its supporting caucuses (CBC, CHC, CPC, CAPAC, New Dem, Blue Dog, etc.);
• Strong foundation of Chief of Staff relationships with a broad cross-section of the Democratic Caucus is preferred;
• Self-motivation and the ability to anticipate and prevent problems, as well as tracking multiple ongoing projections and requests;
• Prior campaign and experience working with Members of Congress;
• Strong commitment to teamwork;
• Possess the initiative to work independently, follow through on all projects, and pay close attention to detail.
