Homeless Narrative and Action Campaign Digital Director

The Homeless Narrative and Action Campaign seeks to reshape the public debate and narrative around homelessness by using cutting edge research, communications and grassroots action.

HNAC seeks a Digital Director for its rapid response war room.

As a key member of the communications war room team and reporting to the Communications Director, the Digital Director will lead digital campaigns to increase our impact and capacity to drive a public narrative change. She/he/they will bring a work style grounded in principles of equity and inclusion.

Duties and Job Responsibilities:

  • Content creation: Create and manage a daily, weekly, and monthly calendar for content creation and distribution in collaboration with the leadership and the communications team. Maintaining and updating social media channels daily with original content, including graphics, videos, graphs, charts and other creative content.

  • Distribution: Design, launch, and oversee the execution of social media, email, and SMS programs. Conceptualize, help shape, edit, and approve content for online distribution, including social media content, video scripts, creative website content, and emails.

  • Partnerships: Collaborate with proven content creators to tap into their expertise and networks.

  • Amplification: Actively work with aligned grassroots organizations, surrogates, influencers, and media outlets to maximize the reach and impact of the Homeless Narrative and Action Campaign content.

  • Metrics: Manage and incorporate social analytics tools into the Campaign's workflow in order to proactively capitalize on trending news stories, maximize the reach of the team's content, and effectively respond to activity by opponents. Analyze digital metrics from digital platforms including social media channels, website traffic, and CRM data from action forms and emails.

  • Creating aggressive, long- and short-term digital communications strategies including for SMS, paid digital, email and social.

  • Identifying new digital communications avenues and creating compelling digital content that can be localized.

  • Increasing the social media reach of the Homeless Narrative Project and partners to push our message directly to the people we are trying to reach through content strategy and community engagement.

  • Identifying and implementing new ways to integrate digital organizing into all communication tactics.

and in-person meetings when it is safe to do so.

  • Continuously assessing social media landscape and identifying key messengers across all social platforms.

  • Managing vendors for digital tools as necessary. Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of digital communications experience, including senior advocacy, electoral or consulting firm experience.

  • Deep digital communications experience with a track record of successful digital campaigns in the current media landscape.

  • Experience in digital strategy, content development, and social media account management.

  • Experience managing rapid-response digital programs.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced campaign environment.

  • Experience integrating strategies across social media, email, SMS, and video in order to run cohesive, impactful digital campaigns.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, including content creation.

  • Familiarity with Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, and other social listening tools.

  • Experience using digital organizing tools.

  • Experience with email marketing and website management.

  • Experience using graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator). Video editing experience a plus.

  • Experience with utilizing message testing, political polling, offline and online analytics to target and build strategy is a plus.

  • Strong strategic and writing skills. Compensation and Benefits:

    The salary range for this position is $75k-90k plus benefits and will be determined based on experience and qualifications for the position.
