Psst...It's About Celebrating Diversity |  | Hey Friend, Consider this email an official invite to join us on June 24th at 2 PM for the Representative Career Fair. When I started working for GAINPower in March, Amy discussed her mission to diversify, demystify, and democratize progressive politics. Being a young Black woman from rural South Carolina, I was thrilled to take on this challenge to host a diversity career fair to help people who look like me find job opportunities. Here is a message to job seekers: you can do this work! Perhaps you went to college but did not major in political science, or you did not go to college, but you are a talented writer. Organizations and Firms in progressive politics want to hire you because of life and work experiences. Employers are making a conscious effort to hire more BIPOC staff, the opportunity is now, and we should take up that space. | Employers, thank you for realizing that diversity in politics is essential, for example, the Biden-Harris Administration and Congress. For the first time in American history, Juneteenth is being celebrated by the Federal Government, and despite not being on the exact day, it is still in the right direction. People of color deserve access to opportunities within progressive politics because our lives are directly impacted by public policy. Most people of color I know support their families, and sometimes we need a space to talk with others in our community. That is why we dedicated this week to hosting virtual events for each group. Join us for events today and tomorrow surrounding the AAPI, Black, and LGBTQ+ communities. See the upcoming events section for more information.
